Camera movements and angles and how they apply to horror

High angle This angle is used to make something or someone look vulnerable and this used commonly in horror as the people who are afraid are stereotypically filmed in this way when they fall to the floor. This angle will be used frequently in our trailer as it relates to Hitchcock's theory as this is a way to create fear. Low angle This angle is commonly used to make the antagonist look intimidating , scary and much bigger than the antagonist. This and the high angle are binary opposites which fits into Strauss' theory as this opposite angles have completely opposite meanings. This is usually a point of view shot from the person on the floor. Close up This is used to highlight emotion or highlight the importance of an object, which is very useful in horror as emotions are always running very high. Deconstructions of horror film posters 1

Saw 2 Poster The main thing that stands out to me is the rough almost 'cut up' look to the masthead mainly and other parts of the poster hugely corresponds to the message of blood and gore in the film, and this links to the two fingers as part of the masthead which also signifies the gore, the genre of the film and could even be a sneak preview into what is to come in the film. It is located just below the centre of the poster and this is so it stands out clearly to the audience and the audience can clearly recognise the title of the film as it is the most important thing in making a clear brand image. The title is also in a silvery colour which could possibly relate to an actual saw, this could also be related to the two fingers and be included in the film so I think this is very clever if this is what they were trying to portray within this, this links to Barthes' symbolic code in which they showed a deeper meaning.
